Hope Hayes – Finding Empowerment In Locs

Today’s guest is the mother of 3 and grandmother of 7. She is a former Restaurant and Retail Manager of 20+ years. As a manager, she became very interested in trading and investments. That led her to various ventures and entrepreneurship.

With her busy schedule, she almost never had time to the salon. So in 1999 she started her last set of locs and has been loc’d eversince.

Over the past 20+ years of having locs she’s come to feel that having locs offer much more than convenience; they offer cultural pleasure and self-respect because they symbolize our African heritage instilling a sense of pride and boldness. As well as courage because you have to be courageous to face possibilities that you may miss out on jobs, networking and business opportunities because of having locs.
